Joyce named ranking member of subcommittee
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman John Joyce, R-13th District, has been named Ranking Member of the House Small Business Subcommittee on Rural Development, Agriculture, Trade and Entrepreneurship.
The subcommittee will address polices that enhance rural economic growth, increase America’s energy independence and ensure small businesses can compete in the global marketplace.
It also will have oversight of programs targeted to rural development, environmental issues and regulations, international trade policy, intellectual property rights and the Small Business Administration’s entrepreneurial development programs.
The counties Joyce represents contain about 1.5 million of the 7.6 million total acres of farm operations in Pennsylvania — nearly 20 percent. The average farm in these counties is more than 158 acres.
The House Committee on Small Business will conduct its first hearing of the year today, examining the economic impact of the recent government shutdown.
