Tyrone women charged with dealing narcotics

Police say pair ran meth operation out of motel

Two Tyrone women accused of dealing narcotics Saturday out of local motel rooms reportedly containing various drug paraphernalia face numerous criminal charges.

Amanda Nicole Mills, 36, of 208¢ W. 10th St., and Teresa Marie Keller, 45, of 339 Village Drive, allegedly sold methamphetamine at the Motel 6 in Altoona, on Saturday, according to a police criminal complaint.

Mills is being charged with manufacture, delivery or possession, criminal conspiracy, possession of controlled substance, drug paraphernalia use and possession and marijuana possession.

Keller faces charges for two cases stemming from incidents that occurred Saturday. She is being charged with two counts of manufacture, delivery or possession, two counts of possession of controlled substance, a conspiracy count, a marijuana possession count and two counts of drug paraphernalia use and possession.

A Logan Township police officer was reportedly on vehicle patrol at the parking lot of Motel 6 when he noticed “heavy pedestrian traffic” coming in and out of rooms 147 and 148, rented under the names of Mills and Keller.

Officers arrested a white male who they saw leave room 147 who possessed prescription medications, a glass smoking device and suspected methamphetamine, the complaint states. The male allegedly told police he purchased the methamphetamine from room 147 and paid $20 for a small plastic bag marked with “stay high.”

Officers then reportedly searched rooms 147 and 148 and detained Mills and five other people in the motel rooms.

Mills informed police they would find narcotics and related paraphernalia items in room 147 and that room 148 was selling narcotics, states the complaint.

Keller was not on scene during the search warrant, but had allegedly been there before police arrived.

Police found more than 10 grams of methamphetamine, an electronic scale, multiple plastic bags marked with “stay high,” other plastic bags, numerous glass smoking devices, a black pellet gun, hypodermic needles and other drug paraphernalia items, the complaint states. Most of the methamphetamine had not reportedly been ground up for distribution.

In room 148, officers allegedly found “a large amount of methamphetamine” found in clothing in a basket belonging to Keller, a digital scale, plastic bag, a pipe and hypodermic needles.

Two others involved in the deal reportedly told police Keller was selling methamphetamine.

Later that day, Altoona police located and arrested Keller at a parking lot on the east side of the 800 block of 23rd Street, according to police. Keller allegedly admitted to picking up multiple items and people from a room at Motel 6.

State police, with the help of a canine, reportedly found methamphetamine, marijuana, a digital scale, smoking devices and a small plastic bag with various markings in Keller’s vehicle.

When questioned by police, Keller allegedly admitted to owning the clothes and the methamphetamine found with them. Police said they confirmed she was continually staying and operating out of room 148 at the Motel 6.

Keller is housed at the Blair County Jail in lieu of total monetary bail of $120,000 for her two separate cases. She was arraigned Sunday in front of Magisterial District Judge Andrew Blattenberger.

She has preliminary hearings scheduled for 9 a.m. Thursday in front of Magisterial District Judge Steven Jackson and 9 a.m. Dec. 26 in front of Magisterial District Judge Benjamin Jones.

Mills was arraigned Saturday in front of Magisterial District Judge Daniel DeAntonio. She has a preliminary hearing set for 9 a.m. Thursday in front of Jackson.

A bondsman posted her $30,000 monetary bail Monday.

Charges are pending for six other people involved.
