Increasing safety

Motorists using Chestnut Street through Nanty Glo are “reminded to share the road” with pedestrians and bicyclists thanks to a new crosswalk as part of a $2.1 million PennDOT bridge replacement project that also included sidewalk installments, drainage work, new guardrails, lighting and signals. The new pedestrian crossing sign and the piano key-style crosswalk alert motorists to look for those using the Ghost Town Trail. The new markings will help increase safety for trail users and for pedestrians during organized recreation events, according to Caytlin Lusk, program specialist for the Cambria County Conservation & Recreation Authority.
