Abuse victim to speak at Tommy Talks PA event

Tommy Talks PA is hosting a Someone Will Listen Speaker Series from noon to 4 p.m. Nov. 5 at the Omni Bedford Springs Resort at 2138 Business 220, Bedford.

The featured speaker will be 15-year-old Tommy Williams, who said he was sexually abused by a 13-year-old boy for about two years, starting at age 8. Williams said he disclosed to another child about the sexual abuse in January 2013, which led to the felony charges of statutory sexual assault against his attacker in April.

“I want other victims to know that it is not their fault — no matter what their abuser has told them. Someone will listen, and they are not alone,” Williams said, according to the event’s Facebook page.

Other event speakers include Jennifer Storm, state victim advocate, and Jennifer Riley, director of Marsy’s Law.

Space is limited. Admission is free with lunch included.

Those interested must RSVP by Oct. 19.
