Food safety training planned

Penn State Cooperative Extension will offer a ServSafe Food Safety Certification training course from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 2 and from 9 a.m. to noon with the certification exam at 1 p.m. Oct. 9 at the Penn State Extension Office, 10722 Fairgrounds Road, Suite 6, Huntingdon.

Cost for the two-day certification course is $185. Two or more participants registering from the same establishment may register for $175 each.

Elaine Smith, extension educator for Penn State Extension, will be the instructor.

Chambers set business mixer

The Blair County Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber of Business & Industry of Centre County will hold a Business Mixer from 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 26 in conjunction with the bizX Regional Trade Show at the Blair County Convention Center.

Attendees are encouraged to visit exhibitors during the mixer. Cost to attend is $10. Hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar will be available.

Meeting on trip scheduled

An informational meeting on the Blair County Chamber of Commerce’s upcoming trip to Portugal will be held at 6 p.m. Sept.18 at the Devorris Center for Business Development, 3900 Industrial Park Drive.

The chamber, in cooperation with Epic Journeys, is hosting a trip to Portugal from May 8-19. The excursion includes guided tours through Lisbon, Fatima and Oporto and many more destinations. Travelers will participate in tours of cathedrals and museums while enjoying local food and beverages. Roundtrip ground transportation from Altoona to airports is included.

Registration is recommended but not required, and there is no cost or obligation associated with attending the meeting.
