Trampoline park bound for area
Recreation facility to open in former Petco site early 2019
A new recreation facility is coming to Altoona.
D.P. Altoona LLC, comprised of four partners, plan to open Urban Air Adventure Park Altoona early next year in the former Petco location in the Park Hills Plaza.
Urban Air Adventure Park Altoona will feature 26,000 square feet of attractions for trampoline and adventure park entertainment.
Urban Air Adventure Park Altoona will include features such as Urban Air’s wall-to-wall trampoline arenas, dodgeball courts, stunt-airbag, slam dunk tracks and trampoline runway.
In addition to the trampoline attractions, the location will be home to Urban Air’s latest attractions, including the Urban Warrior Course, warrior battle beam, the TUBES Obstacle Course, indoor ropes course, climbing walls, Urban Air Pro Zone performance Trampolines and the Sky Rider Indoor Coaster.
“The majority of the parks just have trampolines. This is what separates us from the other trampoline parks,” said partner Royce Palau, who will serve as general manager. “This is a great way to get children out and active and away from their electronic gadgets.”
D.P. Altoona LLC will be a franchise of San Antonio, Texas-based Urban Air Adventure Parks, named to Entrepreneur Magazine’s top 25 new franchises list and one of the fastest-growing family entertainment centers in the world.
The partners looked at six different franchises before choosing Urban Air.
“We wanted to bring the best to Altoona. I liked the concept of the sky coaster; they had more to offer,” Royce Palau said. “It is super exciting to bring something like this to the area. This is going to be huge for the area.”
Urban Air Adventure Park Altoona will be geared toward families.
“This will provide more family entertainment. Everything in the park will be accessible for all family members,” said partner Heather Palau, Royce’s wife. “There are different price packages, but adults pay just $5 to jump with their kids.”
“If you want to bring your 10-year-old child, you can jump and do all of the activities with him,” Royce Palau said.
Altoona-Blair County Development Corp. played a role in making the project happen.
“We assisted with the site search and intend to participate through an enterprise loan program,” ABCD Corp. President/CEO Steve McKnight said. “This is a wonderful family-focused project for the area.”
The project is expected to create about 50 full- and part-time jobs.
Urban Air Adventure Park Altoona will offer fundraising opportunities for organizations, birthday parties, after-prom parties and other special events.
