Grazierville under boil-water notice

Altoona Water Authority customers in the Grazierville area will need to boil their water before drinking or otherwise ingesting it, starting Monday morning, the authority has warned.

At 8 a.m. Monday, workers will start to replace a main and valve at the intersection of Gates Hill and Rossman roads.

The work should be finished about noon, but water coming out of taps could be contaminated until testing shows there isn’t a problem, according to the authority.

Water can become contaminated because once a line is open and loses positive pressure, negative pressure can suck in contaminants.

For more information, call the water authority at 949-2214.

Starting at $2.99/week.
