Christmas tree drop off sites announced

Undecorated trees accepted

Now that the Christmas is over, it’s time to start thinking about cleanup as people head into the new year.

Altoona residents can drop off undecorated Christmas trees from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday at the Altoona Highway Yard at 5010 Sixth Ave., next to the WTAJ TV-10 studios.

Logan Township residents can drop off their undecorated Christmas trees until

Jan. 12 at the municipal building complex located at 100 Chief Logan Circle. There are signs with tree symbols leading to the drop-off site.

Hollidaysburg residents can leave their Christmas trees at their curbside for pickup. Public Works employees will pick up trees from the east side of the borough on Mondays, Jan. 8 and 22. The department will pick up trees from the west side on Tuesdays, Jan. 9 and 23. Trees must be at the curbside by 7 a.m. and should not be wrapped in any plastic bags.

Residents of Antis Town-ship must drop off their

trees at the Yard Waste Composting Facility. The facility is located at the end of a short road between Oswald Road and the Fostoria rail crossing. The site accepts trimmings from bushes, trees, leaves and grass clippings at no charge and is open year-round to residents of Antis Township.

For Tyrone residents, trees should be ready for pickup and at the curbside at 7 a.m. on Jan. 8 and 9.

Undecorated Christmas trees also can be dropped off at the Intermunicipal Relations Committee Buckhorn composing facility from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and

9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays or at its Duncansville facility from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesdays. Both facilities are closed on holidays.
