Bill to name bridge for Weaver
HARRISBURG – The state House of Representatives has unanimously passed legislation to name a bridge in honor of Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Landon Weaver, who was killed in the line of duty late last year.
Weaver of Troop G, Huntingdon Barracks, was killed in the line of duty on Dec. 30, 2016, in Juniata Township, Huntingdon County, while investigating a protection-from-abuse order.
House Bill 1608, sponsored by Reps. Judy Ward, R-Hollidaysburg, and Rich Irvin, R-Huntingdon, would name the bridge carrying Route 22 over the Juniata River, Norfolk Southern rail tracks and Penn Street in Huntingdon County, as the Trooper Landon E. Weaver Memorial Bridge.
Weaver grew up in rural Blair County and graduated in 2012 from Central High School in Martinsburg. He was inducted into the State Police Academy in 2015 and married his wife, Macy, in June 2016.
HB 1608 now goes to the state Senate for consideration.
