Adams Twp. chief in race for sheriff

Moss

Adams Township Police Chief Kirk Moss is running for Cambria County sheriff in this year’s election on the Democratic ticket.

In his announcement, Moss applauded the current sheriff, Bob Kolar, for his work since his first term in 1998. However, Moss said he believes it is time for a fresh face.

“Like many voters in Cambria County, I believe that effective government requires term limits at all levels if it is to evolve to meet the challenges facing our country today,” he said.

Moss also promises a “new vision” in dealing with an opioid drug addiction epidemic in the county.

“It is time for sheriff’s deputies to get out of the courthouse and take their experience into our children’s classrooms; we must and we will do more to prioritize prevention,” he said.

And lastly, Moss focused on fiscal responsibility, explaining he will work to combat a “ballooning” budget, which he claims tripled under the current administration.

“I have the energy and experience to bring people together and work toward our common goals,” Moss said.

Moss will be competing with Kolar, also a Democrat, who is seeking re-election to the sheriff position, according to county elections documents.

Starting at $2.99/week.
