Free clinic scheduled

Remote Area Medical is hosting a free comprehensive health care clinic at Bald Eagle Area Middle and High School, 751 S. Eagle Valley Road, Bellefonte, on March 29-30.

This clinic will provide dental, vision and medical care to those who might otherwise go without these essential services. This clinic is in collaboration with Penn State.

Clinic doors open at 6 a.m. March 29. Services are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Clinic operations on March 30 will be an abbreviated day, and patients are advised to arrive as early as possible.

Author to speak at meeting

The Blair Alliance for Business and Economic Growth will welcome nationally acclaimed researcher and author Elizabeth Currid-Halkett as the Alliance annual meeting speaker at 4 p.m. March 27 at the Mishler Theatre.

Doors to the Mishler will open at 3:30 p.m. with a “TED talk”-style presentation from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Immediately following the presentation will be an hors d’oeuvres reception at The Columns. E-tickets are available online at www.blairchamber.com. Tickets are $55 per person.

Juniata to host symposium

Juniata College will present Rural Rising, an inaugural symposium dedicated to showcasing grassroots innovation in rural communities. This daylong event, funded through a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities, will bring community members, nonprofit leaders, and experts together to explore solutions to challenges faced by rural areas.

This event will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 28 in Sill Boardroom, von Liebig Center for Science at Juniata College, and is organized by Amanda Page, associate professor of English, and Territa Poole, associate professor of psychology.

The symposium will offer participants a valuable opportunity to engage with a diverse lineup of speakers and take part in interactive sessions.
