Online shopping market launched
From Mirror staff reports
Startup Alleghenies has launched a Very Merry Market to support local businesses from six Southern Alleghenies counties.
The online holiday market offers fine goods, recreation opportunities and flavors from the region.
According to a recent report from Goldman Sachs, $24 billion in goods remain stuck in containers outside of Los Angeles and Long Beach, Calif., only two of the country’s busiest ports.
Startup Alleghenies’ Very Merry Market is available through Dec. 31 at www.startupalleghenies.com/holiday2021/.
“Last year we heard from businesses and their customers that they were counting on us again to offer another holiday market because we made it so easy to find inspiration and unique gift ideas for friends and family,” said Debbi Prosser, director-business development, Southern Alleghenies Planning & Development Commission, in a statement.
“We have already been warned by Moody Analytics out-of-stock products for online shoppers is up 172% compared to January 2020. Our Very Merry Market offers the added benefit of knowing that gifts purchased from local businesses won’t be held up in the supply chain nightmare,” Prosser said.
