New hires and promotions

Heather Smith has accepted the position of chief operating officer at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown.

Smith has served as the chief executive officer at Conemaugh Meyersdale Medical Center since 2014. She first joined Conemaugh Meyersdale in 2000.

Smith will remain as CEO at Meyersdale until a permanent replacement is selected.

Stephanie Jones has been named to serve as director of cardiovascular services at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center.

She will oversee all aspects of the Cardiovascular Service Line. She will oversee the Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiology Labs, cardiac diagnostic testing, cardiac rehabilitation and vascular services.

Pamela Watt has been named to serve as registry and outcomes manager of cardiovascular services at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center.

She will work closely with Jones to identify opportunities to improve the quality and safety of cardiovascular patient care and regularly report outcomes to the ACC’s National Cardiovascular Data Registry.

Wendy Kalmanir has been named to serve as the stroke coordinator within neuroscience services at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center.

Kalmanir will collaborate with physicians, nursing and other health care professionals to facilitate compliance with all stroke quality measures and regulatory requirements for Joint Commission Stroke Certification.

Awards and honors

Patricia Savage, CEO of Allegheny Lutheran Social Ministries, received the American Heart Association’s Leadership Legacy Award.

The Leadership Legacy Award recognizes current and alumni volunteers for exceptional service and contributions to the Eastern States region and/or its divisions over a significant period of time, at any level of the organization.

Course completions and certifications

Magisterial district judges Daniel C. De Antonio and Benjamin F. Jones of Altoona and Tonya M. Osman and Kathy S. Calhoun of Bedford County have been certified again for service as a member of the Pennsylvania Judiciary after successfully completing continuing legal education course work, conducted by the Minor Judiciary Education Board and the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts.
