Fusion Grill set to open
A new restaurant, Fusion Grill, opens Thursday at 807 Fourth Ave., offering breakfast and lunch during a “soft launch” and will expand to serving dinner next month.
The restaurant will be open 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. initially with an introductory menu and will expand to serving dinner from 5 to 9 p.m. Oct. 7. The restaurant will be open Wednesday through Monday; closed Tuesdays. Phone orders can be placed at 814-523-5111 for customer pickup and the menu will feature American food favorites, Italian pasta dishes with “touches of Indian, Chinese and Thai items,” said Sanjay Dua, a restaurant consultant, speaking on behalf of owner Anantha LLC. Food items will include paranthas, a north India specialty he described as like a flatbread stuffed with potatoes, and idli, a southern India dish, a steamed rice cake served with dipping sauces.
Chef Gary Lechene of Patton, a 2004 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s Culinary school, will run the kitchen.
The restaurant, at the site of the former Miners Rest, seats 40 patrons inside, 25 on the covered front porch and 40 more on a side patio. It has been renovated since the building was damaged by fire in 2014.
