New hires and promotions
UPMC has appointed James Houser as president of the Center for Emergency Medicine of Western Pennsylvania, which also operates the region’s STAT MedEvac critical care air ambulance service.
Houser succeeds Doug Garretson, who retired in October.
Houser joined Center for Emergency Medicine of Western Pennsylvania in 2016 and served most recently as senior director, medical operations and chief clinical officer.
As CEM’s president and CEO, Houser also will lead STAT MedEvac, with helicopters stationed throughout the region, including Altoona, Erie and York and additional sites in Ohio, western New York, Baltimore and Washington, D.C.
Monica M. Garver has been promoted to director of McKinley Carter Wealth Services Retirement Plan Services division.
As RPS director, Garver works with the executive team to oversee all retirement plan services and components and their delivery to the firm’s retirement plan clients. Additionally, she works as a financial strategist in the Johnstown office where she provides wealth management clients with advice that seeks to help them reach their goals.
