Levin furniture to acquire five stores
Loves locations in State College, Altoona included
PITTSBURGH — Levin Furniture and Mattress has announced an agreement to lease five furniture stores in the greater Pittsburgh, Altoona and State College markets.
The stores are all former Loves Furniture locations. All five stores were acquired by Loves Furniture through the bankruptcy earlier this year of Art Van Furniture of Warren, Michigan.
The five stores are in Altoona, State College and at three Pittsburgh area locations — the Pointe in North Fayette, McMurray and in Mount Pleasant.
The reacquisition of these stores completes a quick turnaround for Levin’s. In July, Levin’s reacquired and reopened 19 furniture and mattress locations in Pennsylvania and Ohio. The additional five locations will take Levin’s store count to 24.
“This has truly been a remarkable year,” stated Robert Levin, chairman of the company, who along with co-CEOs and partners John and Matt Schultz, acquired the Levin stores out of bankruptcy. With today’s announcement, Levin’s has completed its comeback to its original furniture store count in western Pennsylvania.
“Getting back these Levin furniture stores is very meaningful,” Levin said, “as it will allow us to continue our mission and long-standing goal of rehiring employees and providing services to our customers and to the communities where we do business. It seems fitting and is very gratifying that we were able to accomplish this goal while celebrating our 100th anniversary in the furniture and mattress business.”
Levin’s hopes to reopen the first of its new locations by February 2021.
