Pirates GM to speak at event

The next Blair County Chamber of Commerce Breakfast Club will have a new time and day.

The event will be held at noon Sept. 9 at The Casino at Lakemont Park with the new general manager of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Ben Cherington, as keynote speaker.

The cost to attend this unusual Breakfast Club, which will feature grilled chicken salads instead of bacon and eggs, is $20 for all attendees. Social distancing will be in effect. To register, call the chamber at 943-8151 or register online.

Ollie’s earnings beat Street

Ollie’s Bargain Outlet Holdings Inc. on Thursday reported fiscal second-quarter net income of $99.4 million.

On a per-share basis, the Harrisburg-based company said it had profit of $1.50. Earnings, adjusted for pretax gains, came to $1.04 per share.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 87 cents per share.

The retailer posted revenue of $529.3 million in the period, which also beat Street forecasts.

Ollie’s Bargain Outlet shares have climbed 64% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $106.99, a rise of 36% in the last 12 months.

BOLINGBROOK, Ill.

Ulta earns $8.1M in 2Q

Ulta Beauty Inc. on Thursday reported fiscal second-quarter earnings of $8.1 million.

On a per-share basis, the Illinois-based company said it had net income of 14 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 73 cents per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 13 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 10 cents per share.

The beauty products retailer posted revenue of $1.23 billion in the period, which missed Street forecasts. Ten analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.24 billion.

Ulta shares have dropped 12% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $223.95, a drop of 32% in the last 12 months.
