The Pennsylvania Mountain Service Corps is a local initiative of the AmeriCorps program. AmeriCorps is a national civil service corps created in the ideals of volunteerism and community service. PMSC organizes AmeriCorps members at different host sites throughout the region to address critical need in education, environment and community wellness.

The Appalachia Intermediate Unit 8 is the administering agency for PMSC.
Through cooperation with the Blair County Chamber of Commerce, the Mirror will feature a nonprofit corporation on the last Sunday of each month.
