Program offers virtual classes

Pennsylvania Women Work, in partnership with PA CareerLink, will host its New Choices program virtually to residents of Bedford and Blair Counties as a week-long online course for those looking to re-enter the workforce or find better employment.

Participants receive individualized support and training to help them overcome obstacles and achieve success both personally and professionally. The class is free and open to both men and women.

Online Zoom sessions will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. and 2 to 4 p.m. July 6 to 10.

It is free for all job-seekers.

New laundromat to open

CCS — Custom Building & Remodeling by Covert and Simonis of Altoona is renovating an old laundromat on West Second Street in Williamsburg.

“Copper Coin,” featuring about 14 washers and 8 dryers is expected to open in August, said Todd Covert, who owns CCS with Jake Simonis.

A building behind the laundromat, is being renovated for a beauty salon, Covert said.

Covert said his company purchased both buildings and is in the process of purchasing a neighboring parking lot, which will also be renovated.

CCS also owns a laundromat in Juniata.
