Giant Eagle to limit occupancy

Giant Eagle has announced that it will limit the number of shoppers in-store at one time.

Each location will admit up to 50 percent of occupancy allowable by fire code, inclusive of store employees, and will shift to use every other register lane when possible. The new maximum occupancy will be visibly posted near the building’s entrance. The company also will dedicate workers to monitor customers’ social distancing and to provide guidance when necessary.

These shifts in store operations focus on the reinforcement of the latest social distancing guidelines and enhanced storewide sanitization efforts. Giant Eagle plans to implement all outlined activities across its stores in the coming days.

Giant Eagle is asking its customers to:

– Consider using curbside pickup and delivery service whenever possible.

– Send only one member of a household to shop for a family.

– Consider wearing masks and gloves while shopping.

– Respecting 6-foot social distance from others in store.

– Follow all in-store social distance directional signage.

– Consider use of self-checkout and Scan Pay & Go options.

– Use credit or debit as payment method when possible.

– Limit contact with cashier.

– Refrain from shopping while ill.
