NPC chairman honored
Barnhart ‘humbled’ by award
The owner and chairman of NPC Inc. will be the 19th recipient of the Blair County Chamber’s Lifetime Achievement Award for Business Excellence.
Mark Barnhart will receive the award at the chamber’s Business Excellence Dinner on June 22 at The Casino at Lakemont Park.
The award honors an individual who — during the course of at least 25 years — has been regarded as a business leader in the region and who has positively impacted the Blair County business community.
The awardee must be a member of the Blair County Chamber of Commerce, should have some involvement — past or present — with the chamber and be regarded as a strong corporate citizen.
Barnhart is a former chamber board member and is currently a member of the chamber’s Executive Roundtable.
“Mark Barnhart is one of Blair County’s true innovators. He has made NPC a national trendsetter in more than just government printing by expanding into markets such as data security, which truly touch all businesses. Mark has invested heavily in creating workforce opportunities for young people interested in STEM careers. He has also been a strong supporter of the Chamber’s Early Childhood Education initiative and has helped with the professional development of his own employees through participation in the Leadership Blair County program. NPC’s incredible growth and diversification have been the result of the dogged persistence and creative genius of Mark Barnhart,” said chamber President/CEO Joe Hurd.
Barnhart said he was surprised to be selected for the award.
“I am very humbled and appreciative, but I see it as a ‘We thing.’ A whole bunch of people have worked toward building our organization,” Barnhart said.
