Blair human resources managers to meet
The Human Resource Management Association of Blair County will hold an educational program on “Current Challenges in Compensation,” from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Feb. 19 at Park Hills Country Club.
The program will be presented by Kelly Shade and will provide attendees with a insight into compensation-related information on emerging best practices.
The cost to attend is $30 for nonmembers. There is no cost for association members. A buffet breakfast is included.
Safety committee program on medical cannabis set
The Blair County Chamber of Commerce Safety Committee will present “Medical Cannabis in the Workplace” from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Friday at Hoss’s Steak & Sea House, Duncansville.
The presenter will be James Brown, employer relations manager for Hoss’s & Marzoni’s. His presentation will include a brief history of cannabis, review of state and federal laws.

Citizens Bank closing office near end of the month
Citizens Bank will close its 501 Third St., Tyrone, branch as of Jan. 29.
“Based on changing customer behaviors and our real estate strategy, occasionally we have to make the business decision to close a branch, however a standalone 24/7 ATM will continue to operate at this location,” spokesman Rory Sheehan said. ”
Customer accounts will be transferred to the branch at 2035 Broad Ave., Altoona, Sheehan said.
Sheehan also said the bank is encouraging colleagues to apply for open positions within the company.
