Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwiches is now open for business in the Pleasant Valley Shoppes, 3420 Pleasant Valley Blvd., Suite 1A.

Jimmy John’s is an American franchised sandwich fast food restaurant chain specializing in delivery. It was founded by Jimmy John Liautaud in 1983 and is headquartered in Champaign, Ill.

Business hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week. The telephone number is 201-2261.

Williams House recognized

Adelphoi’s Williams House was named the 2019 “Residential Program of the Year” by the Pennsylvania Juvenile Court Judge’s Commission.

The award is presented to a superior public or private sector program service for alleged and/or adjudicated delinquent youth in a residential setting, which includes foster homes, group homes, residential treatment programs, child care facilities, shelter care facilities, detention centers, independent living programs and other programs providing out-of-home, overnight care to children.

Since 2005, the JCJC has recognized Adelphoi and its programs seven times. This year’s distinction was awarded to Williams House based on its use of evidence-based practices, demonstrating of adherence to the principles of Balanced and Restorative Justice and advancement of Pennsylvania’s Juvenile Justice System Enhancement Strategies.

Altoona native Trey Carruthers is director of Williams House.

Sheetz celebrates holidays

Sheetz will celebrate the holidays by offering customers a free cup of freshly brewed coffee on both Christmas Day, from 12 a.m. to 12 a.m., and New Year’s, from 4 p.m. on New Year’s Eve until 4 p.m. on New Year’s Day.

Guests can walk into any one of Sheetz’s 600 stores and receive a free cup of coffee.

Customers also have the opportunity to make the holiday brighter for local children by donating to Sheetz For The Kidz at checkout. Sheetz For The Kidz is an employee-run charity providing toys, clothes and other basic needs to underprivileged children. One hundred percent of customer donations go directly to supporting the children in the communities Sheetz serves.
