Sheetz introduces plant-based burgers

Sheetz, in partnership with Beyond Meat, became the first continental U.S. convenience chain to introduce the plant-based Beyond Burger, now available at all 597 store locations.

The new Sheetz Beyond Burger offers on-the-go customers a plant-based meat option, but with the same taste and texture of a traditional beef burger.

Martin’s gives Mountain Lion BackPack Program $5,000

As part of Giving Tuesday Martin’s Food Markets donated $5,000 to the Mountain Lion BackPack Program that will help feed underprivileged children in Blair County.

Area Martin’s team members also were on site volunteering with unpacking product and preparing BackPacks. The Mountain Lion Backpack Program equips students to be physically and mentally prepared to learn and feeds an average 1,000 Altoona Area elementary schoolchildren every week. The program is part of the national Feeding America Network Backpack Program.

Walmart sets hiring event for this week

Walmart will host a hiring event from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at 181 Walmart Road, Bedford, with the goal of hiring 100 full-time order filling positions to support its Bedford grocery distribution center.

An order-filler palletizes full cases of product that will be shipped to the stores and clubs within the Bedford grocery distribution center service area.

The Bedford grocery distribution center serves 135 Walmart stores and Sam’s Clubs throughout the region.
