New hires and promotions

— Dr. Joel Messom has joined Conemaugh Physician Group — OB/Gyn.

Messom will provide outpatient care at Conemaugh Physician Group – OB/Gyn, 1111 Franklin St., Johnstown, and inpatient care at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center.

— Tracy McFarland has been named vice president for student affairs at Mount Aloysius College.

McFarland joins the college after serving as the associate vice president for student affairs and dean of students at Keuka College in New York.

Awards and honors

— P. Joseph Lehman Jr. has joined the board of trustees of the Independent Catholic Foundation.

He has been with P. Joseph Lehman Inc. Consulting Engineers for nearly 30 years, where he has served as president and majority owner for the past 14 years.

— Dr. Alan Kivitz, founder of the Altoona Center for Clinical Research and the Altoona Arthritis and Osteoporosis Center recently was part of a live national broadcast panel.

He was part of a panel whose purpose was to introduce a new medication called RINVOQ, created by the pharmaceutical company AbbVie, and is a new therapy option for individuals who have moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis who have had an inadequate response or intolerance to methotrexate.
