Applebee’s aids Alex’s Lemonade Stand

Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill + Bar restaurants nationwide raised $1.5 million for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation in a monthlong fundraising campaign.

Local Applebee’s franchisee, Apple American Group, raised more than $885,000 across its 460 restaurants this year. To date, Apple American Group has raised more than $7 million for the foundation, which has helped fund pediatric cancer research, family support and awareness.

Locally, the Johnstown Applebee’s raised $16,684, the highest amount in the Pennsylvania market.

The Altoona location raised $5,175 and the State College location $3,140.

Penn State Altoona offers Business Bootcamp

Penn State Altoona is offering a Business Bootcamp open to entrepreneurs in all stages of development.

The camp will provide resources and education to help turn ideas into successful businesses.

The nine-week class will help entrepreneurs become business-ready by giving free professional support. Weekly speakers include CPA Randy Tarpey, attorney Ben Yeager and Tom Seasoltz.

The first session will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 2 at the Altoona LaunchBox, 1331 12th Ave. Subsequent classes will be held on Wednesdays through Dec. 4.
