First Commonwealth recognized by Forbes

First Commonwealth Bank has been recognized by Forbes as one of the World’s Best Banks for 2019.

First Commonwealth is one of 60 banks from the United States receiving this distinction and joining a total of 415 banks, from 23 countries, around the world.

In collaboration with analytics firm Statista, Forbes selected the World’s Best Banks 2019 winners based on an independent survey of more than 65,000 global bank customers. Participants rated the banks utilizing the following criteria: Customer Services, Digital Services, Financial Advice, Terms & Conditions and Trust.

Stuckey Buick GMC sets flag dedication ceremony

Stuckey Buick GMC will hold a flag-raising ceremony at 11 a.m. Wednesday at its 808 Logan Blvd location.

To commence the ceremony, Veteran Honor Guards will briskly hoist a 25- by 40-foot American flag up an 80-foot flagpole located in the southern peninsula created by the intersection of Logan Boulevard and Plank Road.

“This flag represents the immense pride we have for our military and veterans in the community and their unwavering service to defend our freedom. Just seeing our stars and stripes on a larger scale is a reminder to us all of just how blessed we are to be Americans,” said Matt Stuckey, owner of Stuckey Buick GMC.

The dedication will feature special guest speaker Maj. Marty Culp of Hollidaysburg and Nashville recording artist and Altoona native Ricky Lee, who will perform “Star Spangled Banner,” “God Bless the U.S.A.” and original music. Veterans from Altoona and Hollidaysburg will also be in attendance.

Conemaugh Memorial offers emergency MAT

In response to the prevalence of opioid usage in Cambria and Somerset counties and surrounding areas, Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center is now offering emergency medication-assisted treatment for patients with opioid use disorder.

This treatment option is available to patients meeting specific criteria who arrive in the emergency room in a state of withdrawal but are committed to seeking longer-term treatment.

The MAT program is being offered in partnership with the Cambria County Center of Excellence, and is an extension of the notification and coordination of care process Conemaugh Memorial already has in place with the COE. MAT is the most effective known intervention for long-term recovery from OUD.

Maker Showcase event at Catalyst Space Saturday

Catalyst Space is hosting a Maker Showcase event noon to 6 p.m. Saturday at 1331 12th Ave., Suite 205, Altoona.

The event will show the inner workings of Catalyst Space, including demonstrations of CNC routing, laser cutting, vinyl cutting and 3D printing in addition to guest appearances from local entrepreneurs and makers.
