Petition period opens

The Cambria County Re­publican Committee re­minds the public that candidates for public office in the May primary election can begin collecting signatures today. Candidates can collect signatures until March 12.

Electors must be registered in the same political party as the candidate and be residents of the county and municipality in which the candidate is seeking public office.

The committee will host a Wings and Petitions event today from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Carrie’s Res­tau­rant at 345 Main St., Johnstown, in conjunction with the petition period.

The CCRC will be open weekdays beginning today through March 12 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for those who want to stop in and sign petitions. The committee’s office is at 1222 Scalp Ave., Johns­town.

Notary service will be at the office for candidates and petition circulators on March 2.

Those who wish to sign petitions can also visit Penn Glass and Fender, along Route 219 in St. Benedict from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and March 1.
