Dr. Fawzia Haque, a board-certified family medicine physician, has joined Tyrone Regional Health Network and the Tyrone Hospital medical staff.

Haque provides primary care services at TRHN’s Pinecroft Medical Center. She also will provide services at the Houtzdale Rural Health Center in Houtzdale.

Jesse S. Chencharick has joined the State College office of ELA Group Inc., Engineers and Landscape Architects as engineer-in-training.

Chencharick earned a Bachelor of Science in geology and engineering geology from Lock Haven University. His work experience includes geological/hydrological surveying and analysis.

Chris Sipes has been named as the new clinical manager for Functional Pathways, with whom Homewood at Martinsburg contracts for its therapy services.

Sipes, who brings to Homewood more than 17 years of experience in physical therapy, spent the last 13 years managing an outpatient rehabilitation clinic in Roaring Spring, where he was responsible for the day-to-day operations, marketing, treatment and daily business and health care operations of the clinic.

He is a graduate of Northern Bedford County High School and Saint Francis University.

Edna Huber, of Altoona, has been named as director of nursing at Homewood at Martinsburg.

Huber, who has more than 24 years of experience in the health care industry, has served as director of nursing and various other nursing administration positions for facilities with up to 240 beds and has focused on senior care for the majority of her career.

Ashley Hughes has been hired as an account manager at the State College branch of Swift Kennedy & Associates, an insurance brokerage firm that specializes in group employee benefit plans and senior insurance needs.

Her responsibilities will include assisting clients with policy renewals, enrollments, claims and billing issues, as well as compliance with the Affordable Care Act and day-to-day administration.

Jennifer Lucy has joined Conemaugh Health System’s orthopedics team and will join the practice of Western Orthopedics & Sports Medicine.

Lucy will treat outpatients at the practice office and assist with the rounding of inpatients at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center.

Celena Calpin has joined Johnstown Cardiology Associates and will provide inpatient care at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center.

Originally from Johnstown, Calpin worked as an registered nurse in the United States Navy for more than six years and then worked as a registered nurse and clinical coordinator at Conemaugh Memorial, where she became interested in cardiology.

Dr. Boutros Zeidan, a pulmonologist, has joined Conemaugh Physician Group – Pulmonology after years of private practice in Johnstown, followed by practicing in Erie.

Zeidan will treat inpatients and outpatients with pulmonary and sleep issues.

Awards and honors

Sandra Warner, a fifth grade English language arts teacher in the Penn Cambria School District, was presented with the 2018 Dr. John Powers Outstanding Educator Award from Saint Francis University.

Warner has been an educator since graduating from Saint Francis College in 1988.

John Bukowski, of Huntingdon, a professor of mathematics at Juniata College, was honored with the 51st annual Beachley Award for Distinguished Teaching, and Cynthia Merriwether-de Vries, of State College, an associate professor of sociology, was named the 29th recipient of the Beachley Award for Distinguished Academic Service.
