Lewistown man gets 2-5 years in Bedford County arson case
A Lewistown man who admitted to setting fire to an occupied home was sentenced Friday morning at the Bedford County Courthouse.
Zachery Sellers, 36, was handed down a sentence of 2 to 5 years in prison with an additional five years probation.
In October, Sellers pleaded guilty to one felony count of risking a catastrophe in exchange for eligibility in a state drug treatment program, with the remaining charges dismissed.
Prior to the deal, Sellers was facing six criminal attempt – criminal homicide charges, 12 felony counts of aggravated arson and six felony counts of arson and criminal attempt – aggravated assault.
During Friday’s court action, a victim stated that she hopes Sellers “takes advantage” of the drug program and can recover from past mistakes.
The victim said her family hopes “he can salvage his life and save his story.”
Sellers was contracted by Heather Dibert, 45, in October 2023 to burn down the home where her estranged wife and family were living. The fire did minimal damage to the home.
In September, a Bedford County jury found Dibert guilty of plotting to burn down the Napier Township home. Dibert is scheduled for sentencing on Dec. 12.
