Lehigh University holds Virtual Venture Fair

BETHLEHEM — On May 8, the Technical Entrepreneurship Master’s Program at Lehigh University held its first Virtual Venture Fair.

The purpose of the Venture Fair was to showcase the products and companies the 2020 TE students have developed over their 11-month program. Students competed for two professional service packages and cash awards.

First place went to DERT, a peer-to-peer rental platform for heavy construction equipment, founded by Sam McCloskey of Altoona.

McCloskey won a prize package of corporate consulting from Lesavoy Butz & Seitz LLC, a full-service law firm.

McCloskey is a 2015 graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic High School, Altoona, and earned a bachelor of science degree in business and economics with a major in management from Lehigh University in 2019, where he was captain of the 2019 football team.

He is a fifth-year student at Lehigh with a major in technical entrepreneurship.

He is the son of Sam and Wendy McCloskey of Altoona.
