Student recognized

for ROTC achievement

CLARION — Ty Bittner, a management major from DuBois, was one of six Clarion University ROTC cadets selected for the ROTC Cultural Understanding and Language Proficiency overseas immersion experience.

The prestigious experience lasts three weeks and allows the selected students to travel to a different country and interact with the local culture and economy.

Selection for a CULP slot is extremely competitive and considers GPA, physical fitness, language ability and other factors.

Bittner was selected to go to Lithuania.

He was also one of nine Clarion University students who completed summer ROTC training at Fort Knox, Ky.

Kutztown University announces band roster

KUTZTOWN — The Kutztown University Marching Unit, an energetic part of the campus community, provides music, marching and entertainment for all KU Golden Bears football games, select away games, marching band festivals/competitions, professional sporting events, parades and campus spirit building activities.

Under the direction of professor Daniel Neuenschwander, KUMU has announced its 2019 roster.

Among the students were

n Patrick Sweet of Huntingdon.

Student named to Kutztown jazz ensemble

KUTZTOWN — The Kutztown University Jazz Ensembles have announced their audition results for their Jazz Ensemble I and II groups for the 2019-20 year, including Patrick Sweet of Huntingdon.

Under the direction of professor Kevin Kjos, KU Jazz Ensembles have had the opportunity to perform with and receive clinics from many of the greats in jazz performance and education.

The Jazz Ensembles will rehearse throughout the fall semester leading up to their fall performances.

Jazz II is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Nov. 21 in Schaeffer Auditorium.

Jazz I is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Dec. 5, also in Schaeffer Auditorium.
