Yesteryear — ‘Tom Thumb Wedding’ and wedding fashion show

These 90-year-old photos were submitted by Patricia “Patsy” (Dick) Good, 93, of Altoona, who is in both of them. In the top photo, “The Tom Thumb Wedding” was presented by the primary department of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Juniata in the spring of 1935. The children who participated ranged from 3 to 9 years old. The cast included Leonard Eyler as minister, Cora Jean Brumbaugh as the bride, Danny Simpson as the groom, Sarah Wilson as the maid of honor, Carl Wenrich as best man. Ring bearers were Patsy Dick and Thomas Barry. Bridesmaids were Barbara Sessler, Dianne George, Maralyn Chalfont, Irene Segmiller, Margaret Mauk and Eleanor Jean Arbster. Ushers were Richard Wenrich, Donald Beichler, Leroy Oswalt, Samuel Foust, Daniel Leonard and John Wood. Flower girls were Jacqueline Felton, Naomi Coleman, Ruth Ann Hooper and Dorothy Foose. The vested choir included Banks Jacobs (soloist), Robert Meckley, Thomas Kjellman, Calvin Showers, Harvey Gracey, William Drugg, William Rodgers, James Carlson, Steven Zarskie, Robert Miller and William Brady. Guests were Joan Roy, Jack Kelley, Pattie Bonner, William Palmer, Thelma Harvey, James Miller, Paul Taylor, Lois Norris, Shirley Deeter, Jane Peterman, Billy Anderson and Marian Meckley. Emily Wenrich was organizer and producer, ad Leslie Foose was the pianist. In the photo at left, from left, Miss Jane Mattern in a wedding gown of 1855, little Patsy Anne Dick, 3-year-old flower girl, and Mrs. Robert F. Brandt in a wedding gown of the 20th century, were participants in a pageant of old-fashioned and modern wedding gowns modeled at the Juniata First Methodist Episcopal Church.
