Patton Garden Club presents scholarships

The Patton Garden Club has presented scholarships to two students from Cambria Heights High School.

The club encourages and applauds the efforts of higher learning in local high school students.

A scholarship is awarded to a high school senior who wishes to expand his/her horizons in the qualifying fields of study.

These studies include agriculture education, conservation, forestry, biology, botany, agronomy, plant pathology, environmental concerns, landscape architecture, horticulture, floriculture, art, city/rural or urban planning, landscaping, landscaping design, forestry and floral design, wildlife science and land management.

Two students received $1,000 scholarships from the club this year:

– Ian Nagle — In addition to being an excellent academic student, Ian proves to be a well-rounded person in and out of the classroom. Ian was also awarded the Garden Club of PA Constance H. Smith Scholarship, of $1,200. This scholarship was presented at the state GCFP Convention in April.

– Leah Strohmier — Leah is also a strong student with her academics and extracurricular activities, with many honors and accomplishments throughout her years at Cambria Heights. Her dedication and involvement enhance the betterment of each organization.
