50 years ago: March 3, 1975

A famous explorer named Ivan Jurak (mountain climbing, parachuting, river running and hand glider flying) spoke to area Boy and Explorer Scouts at Hollidaysburg Area High School Auditorium as part of the Blair Earth-Space Resources Program. The public was also invited.

25 years ago: March 3, 2000

A new 21-member group called the Industrial Heritage Committee was formed to direct federal money to heritage sites in Blair, Cambria, Bedford, Somerset, Huntingdon, Fulton, Westmoreland, Indiana and Fayette Counties, with a budget of $5.7 million.

10 years ago: March 3, 2015

Eastwynn Theaters Inc., a subsidiary of Carmike Cinemas Inc., which was to build a movie theater near the Convention Center Commons, asked the Allegheny Township Supervisors for permission to obtain a restaurant liquor license, which would be a first for Blair County.
