Women’s club scholarship deadline is Friday
The Hollidaysburg Area Women’s Club announced several scholarship opportunities for high school seniors residing in the Hollidaysburg Area School District who plan to continue their education in the fall semester immediately following graduation.
An academic scholarship of up to $1,000 is available to a high school senior who plans to attend a college or university, and a vocational scholarship of up to $1,000 is being offered to a senior who plans to attend a technical or business school. In addition, an arts scholarship of up to $1,000 is available to a senior who intends to further his or her education at a college or university.
All scholarships will be awarded based on academics, educational/career goals, leadership and community involvement. The arts scholarship applicant must also demonstrate artistic talent via the submission of a portfolio of their work.
The HAWC is also offering a Community Service Award of up to $500 to a qualified high school senior residing in the HASD who has exhibited commitment, volunteerism and leadership in his or her community throughout high school.

Purple Purse to benefit Victim Services Program
The Victim Services Program of Family Services Inc. will hold its eighth annual Purple Purse event on Wednesday, March 26, at the Blair County Convention Center.
The event raises funds for the Victim Services Program of Family Services Inc., helping to provide services to victims and survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, human trafficking and other crimes. Each year, the Victim Services Program helps more than 1,000 Blair County adults and children who have experienced abuse and/or assault.

Dreams Go On to train volunteers Saturday
Dreams Go On will hold a Volunteer Training Day at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 22, at the barn.
Participants will go over the program requirements and goals, and work with both horse leaders and sidewalkers, prior to the opening date of the first riding session, which runs from March 25 through May 3. Additional riding sessions will be held May 20 through June 28, July 15 through Aug. 23 and Sept. 16 through Oct. 25.
Dreams Go On is a therapeutic Horseback Riding Program for Riders in Blair County with emotional and/or physical challenges, and it is always looking for volunteers for the program.
This event is for past volunteers, as well as new volunteers, 16 years old and older.
