Cresson library sets events
February is National Library Lovers Month and to help patrons find their book love match, the Cresson Public Library is offering the Blind Date With a Book game.
Throughout February, librarians will choose and wrap books so patrons cannot see the cover — making them a blind date — that readers may or may not fall in love with by only knowing the first line. Everyone is invited to play along and find some new favorites.
Other events in February include:
— Story time and activity hour from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, to celebrate Take Your Child to the Library Day. Children receive a special prize when they win at Library Bingo and Register for a library card.
— Local Author Shannon Morris will host an author reading and art activity from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22. The Feel the Love event will feature Morris reading her book “Let Your Heart-Light Shine” and then lead children in making Kindness Bracelets. Morris will also have her books available for purchase and signing. Register by calling the library at 814-886-2619 so the library has enough materials for theme-based activities.
— Pop-Up Craft Days will be held Tuesdays, Feb. 4 and Feb. 18. Children can stop by the library to make a DIY Valentine and winter-themed crafts. All materials and instructions are provided for these DIYs on the table in the children’s section.
— A large print book sale will be happening over the next few months during library hours while the books are being weeded. All proceeds directly benefit Cresson Public Library.
