Altoona City Council, C. Donald Harrity city clerk, found that it was violating the state’s Sunshine Law by not advertising its meetings in advance with date, time and place, thus possibly making any action taken at three meetings invalid.

Sister Mary Ann Dillon, a native of Altoona and president of Mount Aloysius College in Cresson, was named an Altoona Mirror Woman of Distinction. She had degrees from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh; Harvard University; St. Michael’s College, Toronto; and College Misericordia, Dallas, Pa.

Major Evangeline Subisak retired as commander of the Hollidaysburg Corps of the American Rescue Workers after 12 years of service and was replaced by Officer Victor La Valla of Ohio.
