Bellwood library sets January programs

BELLWOOD — The Bellwood-Antis Public Library has announced its January programs.

— Toddler Tuesday is a storytime for children ages 18 months to 3 years, followed by an informal playgroup in the children’s room. The next session of Toddler Tuesday is Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. from Jan. 14 through April 15. New families are welcome.

— Kids ages 5 and older are invited to an evening of Lego freestyle building with the library’s great collection of bricks and mini-figures from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16. No sign-ups are needed, walk-ins are welcome.

— The Friends of the Bellwood-Antis Public Library hold a fundraiser at the Altoona Valley Dairy Restaurant, 2724 Plank Road, on Thursday, Jan. 16. Pick up a flyer at the library, and when you present it while dining at the Valley Dairy Restaurant between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Jan. 14, 20% of your bill will be donated to the library. This fundraiser is only at the Altoona location, and you must have a flyer for the library to receive the donation. Flyers are available at the checkout desk.

— In lieu of Adult Lego Brunch, this January, the library will present its inaugural Midwinter Mug Meet at Cosmic Charlie’s Coffeehouse. Bring a unwanted mug to the Midwinter Mug Meet from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, and swap it out for a new one. Then fill your new mug with a beverage from Cosmic Charlie’s.

— What are your dreams and goals for 2025? A vision board can help you plan and manifest the future you want to create for yourself. The library presents a free vision board collage workshop at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18. The library will provide all the materials, but participants are welcome to bring any extra pictures or craft materials for their vision board.

— The Juniata Valley Audubon Society presents its annual “Members’ Night” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, following a potluck at 6 p.m. Bring a covered dish, salad or dessert to share. Don’t forget to bring your own silverware, cups and utensils (to save on clean up and waste). This is an opportunity for members to share their interests, projects and passions with those in attendance at meetings. Whether it’s an art project, conservation effort, photography, poetry or an exciting birding experience, the library invites participants to present something that would be of interest to the society. As this is a members’ event, all interested individuals are encouraged to email the JVAS President at MichaelKensinger@gmail.com to express their interest in presenting. When contacting Kensinger, please include a brief description of the topic you would like to share.

— Sips & Snacks in the Stacks is more than just a wine-tasting: not only will you try samples of wine from local wineries and winemakers, you’ll enjoy gourmet appetizers and live music from Davey B. and Music Man. The 2025 Sips & Snacks in the Stacks is from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25. Tickets are $25 per person. Buy tickets from a library board member or at the checkout desk or purchase your ticket online via eventbrite (link on Facebook page).

— Family Fun Nights are back at the library starting at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, and continuing every Monday (minus President’s Day on Feb.17) through March 31. Family Fun Night is an evening of stories, crafts and other fun activities families with young children will enjoy. Very young children will need help from a grown-up or older sibling to complete certain activities. No sign ups needed: new families welcome.
