50 years ago: 1974

Police Chief Jack Kuhn announced that after three bullets were fired into Altoona City Hall last week, a closed-circuit television system had been purchased for City Hall from a company named Alsenco of Altoona.

25 years ago: 1999

The Pennsylvania Economy League, Don Pepe executive director, hired an all-new staff at its Central Penn Office, 1206 11th Ave., and was to study city finances and services such as police, trash hauling and tax collection.

10 years ago: 2014

Three thieves entered Kranich Jewelers in the Logan Valley Mall 15 minutes before closing, smashed display cases with hammers and stole 16 Rolex Watches worth $250,000.
