Fourth Lutheran Church held a Sunday School Teachers and Workers Recognition Day for 18 people with a combined 616 years of service. Alfarette Stegmeier and Esther Seidel had the most with 54 years each.

The Blair County Chamber of Commerce sponsored a trip for students at Irving Elementary School to visit a petting zoo and for Williamsburg High Future Farmers of America students to teach them about farm animals like cows, pigs and horses for Ag in Schools Day.

Penn State Altoona announced an Operation Safe Trick or Treat event for children up to age 13 at its intramural fields that week, with Maple Hall being turned into a haunted house. Participants were asked to donate a box of cereal for St. Vincent de Paul.
