Area choral groups set to celebrate holidays

The Hollidaysburg Community Chorus will celebrate its 35th anniversary with free Christmas concerts.

“Celebrate: It’s Christmas” will be performed at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, at the Hollidaysburg Area High School auditorium. The concerts feature guest soloist Julie Hanlon and performances from the Children’s Community Chorus, under the direction of Bonnie Ebersole. Refreshments will be available after the concerts.

Assembled by Tom Kunkle in 1986 to originally sing for the 150th anniversary of Hollidaysburg Borough, the Hollidaysburg Community Chorus has been performing twice a year — in the spring and at Christmas — for the past 35 years. Sandy Steele succeeded Tom as director, and the chorus is currently under the direction of Sandy Harteis.

Throughout the years, the chorus has maintained a membership of 65 to 80 members.

The public is invited to attend the Christmas concert.
