Ebensburg hosts Potatofest

Unique potato foods will be featured at 30th annual PotatoFest slated to run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, in downtown Ebensburg.

Nearly 200 booths filled with arts, crafts and food vendors will line High, Center, Julian and Sample streets, as well as the Prave parking lot, Veteran’s Memorial Park and Penn Eben Park.

“The PotatoFest Committee and Main Street Partnership work year-round to put together a family-friendly event that has a little something for everyone,” said Danea Koss, community development director. “We really focus on attracting all types of people from our area and beyond.”

Dauntless Fire Station will also host its 14th Annual Wine Extravaganza at the station. Admission is $10, which includes a wine glass and wine tasting.

Returning this year will be a children’s area. “Adventures in Spudland” is hosted by Hogue’s Fun Factory and will feature an 18-foot slide, 38-foot obstacle course, an extreme dance party dance dome and a castle bounce house, as well as crafts such as spin art, wax hands and glitter tattoos. The Kid’s Potato Patch and Mini Golf will be held inside the Ebensburg Presbyterian Church.

New this year, Saint Francis University Esports program will host a video-gaming lounge in the Community Room inside the Ebensburg Municipal Building. Steel City Axe will have a mobile axe-throwing unit at the Sample and Center street intersection.

There is no charge to attend PotatoFest and free shuttles will run from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. from Admiral Peary Vo-Tech and Central Cambria schools, Penn Highlands Community College, Lake Rowena and the Cambria County Fairgrounds.

Main tent entertainment includes Rue Moyer from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Jill & Leah from noon to 2 p.m. and Giants of Science from 3 to 5 p.m.

South Center Street entertainment includes Tree the Band from 10 a.m. to noon, Joe Caroff from 12:30 to

2:30 p.m. and Bruce Shettig from 3 to 5 p.m.

Memorial Park tent entertainment includes Moonshine Jasmine from 10 a.m. to noon, Adam & the Openers from 1 to 3 p.m. and the Exotic Edventures Petting Zoo from 3:30 to 5 p.m.

Samantha Press will be at Penn Eben Park from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by Somebody to Love from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. and Band of Eden from 3 to 5 p.m.

The VFW lot will feature the Horseshoe Cloggers from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Wolf’s Performing Arts from 1 to 2 p.m., Impulse Dance Studio from 2 to 2:30 p.m. and the Dance Loft from 2:30 to 3 p.m.
