Duncansville resident Lily Davis, 12, a sixth-grade student at Foot of Ten Elementary School, Duncansville, raised $1,400 for the American Cancer Society during its July 15-mile Swim Challenge. Lily is a member of the Blair Regional Tiger Sharks, which she joined in 2019. Lily is the daughter of Nick and Joy Davis of Duncansville. Her mother saw the swim challenge on social media and asked Lily if she wanted to participate. Lily completed the 15 miles apart from her team swimming practice laps and races. It takes 70.4 pool laps to complete one mile, Joy Davis said. All laps were done at Blair Regional YMCA. Lily used a fitness tracker to keep track. The family has had friends impacted by cancer and she thought of them while swimming for motivation, Lily said.
