Go ‘Over the Edge’ for Family Services in Oct.
One-of-a-kind fundraiser set at Curve Stadium
Family Services Inc. is bringing a new type of fundraiser to Blair County with the Altoona Curve.
Did you ever stand at the top of Curve stadium, look down and say “I bet it’s fun to rappel down this wall?” Well now’s your chance.
Join Family Services and the Altoona Curve and go “Over The Edge” of PNG Field on Oct. 9.
This person-to-person fundraising event allows friends and family of “edgers” to support their loved one in this thrilling event.
Edgers create a profile on our Handbid platform where friends, family, co-workers and others can donate to them to “go over the edge.”
After $1,000 is raised, the person will schedule a time on Oct. 9 to rappel over the outside wall of the Curve Stadium. Loco from the Curve will be there too and after rappelling down, Loco will be there to cheer everyone else on.
Family Services Inc. is partnering with the fundraising company Over the Edge whose mission is to assist nonprofits in their fundraising efforts while offering a unique and powerful experience to the community.
Over the Edge provides trained and certified industrial ropes specialists as well as a comprehensive site inspection by a member of the senior technical staff the day of the event to ensure all safety measures are in place.
With more than 900 events in 13 years, Over The Edge has a proven track record of the highest safety standards.
If heights aren’t for you, there will be plenty of on-the-ground fun to be had while cheering on those going over the edge. From food trucks, to activities for the kids, there will be something for everyone.
Proceeds from the “Over The Edge” event will support the five programs of Family Services: The Children’s Advocacy Center, The Family Shelter, The Intellectual Disabilities Program, The Teen Center, and the Victim Services Program.
Through these services in Blair County, Family Services Incorporated strives to “provide resources to build healthier relationships and promote personal growth,” as the agency mission statement reads.
