Group to honor beloved member at Curve July 14
Reserve tickets by July 1 to attend game with Altoona Women’s Club
Members of the Altoona Women’s Club will attend the Curve baseball game as a group on July 14.
Game time is 6:30 p.m.
The club will recognize their late friend and member Jean Lane and all the hours she devoted to making their fundraising at the Curve successful.
Jean passed away on Feb. 4.
Jean was the obvious choice to head up the volunteer work at the Curve food venues for the club’s profit.
She was an avid baseball fan of both the Altoona Curve and the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Annually she and her husband Jim traveled to Spring Training in Florida for more than 20 years. Jean had hundreds of autographs in her collection including baseballs, baseball cards and photos.
Jean did not limit her club activities to 10 years of fundraising at the Curve.
For many years she served as recording secretary.
She participated in other club projects like providing Thanksgiving dinner at Sister Paula’s Food for Families, the club’s collecting for the Salvation Army at Christmas time, and other fundraising projects.
Joan Camberg and Jean Lane worked together for more than 50 years in teacher organizations, as Girl Scout leaders, as well as members of the Altoona Women’s Club.
Joan said, “No matter the circumstances, Jean always had a positive attitude. She was pleasant and kind to everyone.”
The Women’s Club of Altoona has lost a dear friend and member. Baseball has lost an avid fan.
All Women’s Club members, families and friends are welcome to attend the game with the club.
Tickets are $11 per person and can be purchased from the club.
Checks for the number of game tickets, made out to Women’s Club of Altoona, should be mailed to Women’s Club of Altoona, P.O. Box 254, Altoona PA 16603 by July 1.
Additionally, club members are asked to email an RSVP to President Jennifer Cacciotti so the proper number of tickets can be reserved.
