ArtsAltoona announces events

ArtsAltoona has several upcoming activities:

n Artist Laura Bossi will showcase her electric gallery display from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday “The Sanctuary,” 2212 Sixth Ave., Altoona. It will feature everything from footwear to pottery to drawings to oil paintings. There will be art for sale, as well as live demonstrations. A portion of the proceeds will benefit ArtsAltoona programming.

n An ArtsAltoona Summer Camp Kick Off Event will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the ArtsAltoona parking lot, 2212 Sixth Ave., Altoona. This free event is for kids and their families. There will be art activities, games, crafts, food and drink, and an exhibition wrestling match in a real ring by Slobberknocker Wrestling from 6 to 7 p.m.

Participants can learn all about the summer art camps being offered by ArtsAltoona to keep young ones busy during their summer vacation. Registration information can also be found by visiting the ArtsAltoona Facebook page or by calling 814-201-7004.

n In ArtsAltoona’s Paint the Town ArtsBox Fundraiser Summer Series, now through August, participants can choose from four new designs featuring scenes from around the area that evoke summertime. Designs include Smithmyer’s Farm sunflower field, Summer Storm Clouds, Raystown Lake Boat Docks and a Blooming Apple Tree with photos provided by Smithmyer’s Farm, Tim Holtz and Katie and Cory Eberhart

Each ArtsBox includes an 11×17 canvas with the outline of the chosen design, corresponding paints, brushes and a full color image and color guide to help bring the painting to life. More than 75% of each ArtsBox purchased will support ArtsAltoona programming, building renovations and community events
