The 11th annual “For the Kids” golf tournament will be held June 12 at Park Hills Country Club in Altoona with a 1 p.m. tee-off.

The tournament benefits the Gloria Gates Memorial Foundation, which serves children living in low-income housing.

The mission of the foundation is to help children to succeed in school, to gain confidence and to set meaningful goals for their future.

Dr. Zane Gates started the foundation in 1999. He was raised by his single mother living on limited income, and she taught him to help others at every opportunity.

The foundation is named in honor of Dr. Gates’ mother, Gloria, who especially loved children.

The tournament is organized by committee members Scott Rhine, Galen Grimes, Matt Hileman and Toni Bilik.

The Gates Foundation invites all golfers to help build a bright future for area youth while enjoying a day of camaraderie at Park Hills.

Golf carts, lunch, snacks,

cold drinks and dinner are provided for golfers spending an afternoon on the scenic course.

Golfers will have the chance to win a football signed by former Steelers player No. 55 Joey Porter who played with the team from 1999 to 2006, including Super Bowl XL. The cost is $100 per golfer.
