Week of the Young Child Committee plans activities
The Week of the Young Child Committee, a committee led by United Way of Blair County’s Family Resource Center, is happy to announce that it will be sharing a Virtual Month of the Young Child Celebration beginning April 1 in place of its annual in-person celebration.
Each year, the community comes together in April to provide Blair County children and their families with a celebration consisting of activities centered around early education, early development, parent education, health, nutrition and welfare.
Activities for families with young children will be held via live virtual events, premiers and access to recorded events and a limited number of socially distanced live in-person events throughout the month of April.
The events will be shared by visiting the Facebook pages of the Family Resource Center of Blair County, the United Way of Blair County and participating agencies and programs concerned with the early education, early development, health and welfare of young children and their families.
Individuals who like and share the activities will be entered into a drawing to win prizes.
Participating agencies and programs to date include: Altoona Area Public Library, Altoona Area School District ELECT Program, Appalachia Intermediate Unit 08, Begin With Us Child Care and Preschool Inc., Blair/Clearfield Association for the Blind, Blair Drug and Alcohol Partnerships, Blair Regional YMCA, Blair Therapies, Child Advocates of Blair County, Del Grosso’s Park/Laguna Splash, Home Nursing Agency Early Intervention, Family Resource Center of Blair County, Home Nursing Agency WIC, Hollidaysburg Area Public Library, Kids First Blair County, Lakemont Park, United Way of Blair County and UPMC for You.
