Community dinners

Free bag lunch, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the third Saturday of each month, Providence Presbyterian Church, 2401 Broad Ave., Altoona. The next event is April 17. The Bag Lunch will include a hot dog, baked beans, dessert and fruit. One bag lunch per person will be handed out in the church parking lot for drive-through and walk-ups while supplies last.

Altoona Almrausch Schuhplattlers’ German Dance Group’s 14th annual fish dinner, 5 to 7 p.m. (or until sold out) Friday, Unter Uns Club, Van Buren Avenue and 14th Street. The cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 9 and younger. Dinners include baked or fried haddock, macaroni and cheese or scalloped potatoes, stewed tomatoes, coleslaw, roll and butter. Homemade baked goods will be available for an additional cost. Dinners will be available for take-out; limited seating is available due to COVID-19 limitations.

St. Patrick’s Parish Lenten drive-thru

seafood dinners, 4 p.m. Friday. The menu will be a choice of baked or fried fish, or fried shrimp; coleslaw, macaroni and cheese, stewed tomatoes and roll for $10.

Fish fry, 3 to 7 p.m. Fridays through April 2, Pinecroft Volunteer Fire Company, 2134 Old Sixth Avenue Road, Altoona. Tickets are $11, which includes a choice of baked or fried fish or chicken tenders, plus two sides.

Spring Chicken Barbecue, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today, St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen, 2201 Union Ave., Altoona. Tickets are $8, which includes a half chicken, Murf’s potato salad (prepared by DelGrosso Foods), applesauce and a roll. Tickets may be purchased at the soup kitchen from 8 to 11 a.m. weekdays or at the door on the day of the event. Those attending should wear a mask when picking up their dinners.
